I am Evelyn Shirley and I am a senior at Durham School of the Arts. I have been working on my art portfolio this whole school year. The question I explored in my works is "how has my childhood imagination affected my mindset now?" I had a very big imagination as a kid, I would spend all my time outside with my friends searching for fairies or chasing goblins. While I don't do that anymore, I believe my imagination as a kid has had an impact on my mindset now. For instance I believe in spirits?ghosts and other realms or dimensions and theres so much we don't know about the whole universe. In my works I showed my inquiry question by showing things from my imagination as a kid such as mystical creatures and pairing it with pieces based more of my more spiritual mindset I have now. Some of my pieces are also of things that have impacted my imagination and my mindset now. For instance, I have a two pieces based off of a quote my mom has always told me "the stars are pulling on my hair again" meaning good is coming, exciting new adventures are coming. I relate to this quote a lot in my life right now because since covid, life has slowed down but college is coming soon for me meaning new exciting things are coming, the stars are pulling on my hair again.
