Health Education
The Journey of Our Food: Skills for Healthy Digestion (K-8) Live Webinar (CTLE: 60 minutes)
In this interactive webinar, presented by Green Beetz (opens in new window), participants will delve deep into the Digestive and Circulatory System and nutrition education. This workshop will go beyond the foundational content knowledge teachings on the mechanics of our digestive and circulatory systems and provides educators tools and activities aimed at encouraging and empowering students to make food, drink, and movement choices that will further enhance the functions and vitality of their bodies based through the understandings of these interconnected bodily systems - digestion and circulation. Participants will leave with tools to help their students understand the connection between how the food they eat and the health of their bodies and review activities and materials surrounding common snacks like, cracker digestion and corn salsa and chips.

Physical Education
Strategies for Curriculum Mapping in Physical Education (K-12) Live Webinar (CTLE: 90 minutes)
In this interactive webinar, through discussion and collaboration, participants will explore key strategies needed to create a curriculum that prioritizes Physical Education (PE) learning outcomes, content spiraling and creating assessments that showcase student learning. The Backwards Design process and principles of Universal Design will be introduced, as well as how these design theories impact curriculum mapping and instructional practices.

In this self-guided WeLearnNYC course, participants will learn about the impact of Health Education on student outcomes, the required components of Health Education in NYC, and where to find resources to support Health Education lesson planning.

In this self-guided WeLearnNYC course, participants will learn about the impact of Health Education on student outcomes, the required components of Health Education in NYC, and where to find resources to support Health Education lesson planning.
HIV Education
HIV Education: Introduction to Requirements and Resources (K-12) Self-Guided Course (CTLE: 45 minutes)
In this self-guided WeLearnNYC course, participants will review a skills-based approach to HIV education. Participants will leave equipped with the knowledge and resources necessary to implement Growing Up and Staying Safe: New York City K-12 HIV Education Curriculum.
Physical Education
Audience: New K-12 PE teachers (less than 5 years of teaching). All PE teachers welcome to attend.
In this self-guided WeLearnNYC course, participants will learn why fitness education is an essential component of teaching PE and review strategies and tips for administering the NYC FITNESSGRAM assessments. After successful completion of this course, eligible PE teachers (opens in new window) will receive access to the NYC FITNESSGRAM web-based application and can request the Physical Best 4th Edition textbook (limited supplies).
Note: This training was formerly referred to as “PE Basics 1: Asynchronous Course” and will cover the same content. If you have PE Basics 1 on your Events/CTLE record (opens in new window), then you do not need to take this course.
Safe and Supportive Schools for LGBTQ+ Students
Introduction to LGBTQ+ Concepts and Terminology (K-12) Self-Guided Course (CTLE: 45 minutes)
In this self-guided WeLearnNYC course, participants will examine concepts and terminology like sex assigned at birth, gender identity, gender expression, sexual orientation, and discuss creating an inclusive environment that benefits all students by promoting diversity.
CTLE and Other Certificates
ALL certificates will be available AFTER Thursday, June 13, 2024.
To Print CTLE and Other Certificates of Completion:
Log in (opens in new window) using your DOE email alias and password to the Office of School Wellness Programs' Wellness Hub.
Click profile icon (top right corner).
Click My Profile.
Under Go to (blue box in the upper right), select Events/CTLE from drop-down menu. Here you will see all of the live events that you have attended, including those on June 3.
Select an individual event from the list of events you have attended.
Click Print Certificate.
In the Print Menu, under Options, check the "background graphics" box before printing.
Please note: Access to CTLE certificates and other certificates of completion for viewing, downloading, and printing is not available on mobile devices or tablets. To view, download, or print a certificate, please use a desktop or laptop computer.

Sign Language Interpreters for Workshop Participants Who Are Deaf or Hard of Hearing
To help ensure that all educators can participate in our live webinars, the Office of School Wellness Programs is working with the Office of Sign Language Interpreting Services (OSLIS) to provide American Sign Language (ASL) interpretation in real time during live sessions. Please email WellnessPD@schools.nyc.gov (opens in new window) by Thursday, May 30, if you require ASL interpretation services.

Participation: We love professional learning in person because we have the opportunity to learn from each other face to face. Virtual PLOs also afford us many conveniences, so in order to maintain the same level of engagement, we ask that you fully engage with the presenters, the materials, and each other. Full engagement will ensure that you are also able to attain CTLE credit for the session. If you are experiencing technological issues preventing active participation, please inform the facilitators immediately. “Full engagement” includes but is not limited to: accessing the online sessions via a computer or mobile device (preferably located in a space with minimal distractions and not while in transit), completing pre-work (where applicable), and participating in all activities in the session. Contributions to the “chat,” polls, midpoint check ins on google forms, breakout discussions, feedback surveys, and any tasks included in the session are required and appreciated. Being on camera for webinars is also strongly recommended. We thank you for your time and commitment to student learning and we look forward to working with you during our professional learning sessions.
