Mobile Data Collection: KoBoCollect

KoBoCollect is an essential tool in a SaniPath deployment. This app will be used during environmental sample collection, throughout laboratory analysis, and during survey administration. The following guidelines will outline how to install and use the app for SaniPath's project needs.

Download KoBoCollect

1. From the Google Play Store: search, select, and download KoBoCollect.

Configure App

1. Open the KoBoCollect app and go to the General Menu by tapping the three vertical dots in the upper right-hand corner of the home screen and selecting “General Settings”.

2. From the General Settings screen, in the server settings menu select “URL” and then enter https://kc.kobotoolbox.org/ from the popup window.

3. From the server settings menu, select “Username” and enter the username associated with the project: exampleusername

4. From the same menu, select Password and enter the password associated with the project account: examplepassword

5. Go back to the General Settings page and make sure both of the Auto Send options are not checked.

6. Press Back to return to the main menu.

Download Forms

1. From the main menu, select “Get Blank Form”.

2. You should now see all SaniPath forms available for you to download. Select the appropriate forms that will be used on this device and tap “Get Selected” to download forms.

Collect and File Data

1. To enter data, select “Fill Blank Form” and select the form you would like to complete.

2. Navigate through the form by swiping left to advance to the next question (or right to go back).

a. Most questions are required and will not let you swipe without providing an answer.

3. When the form is complete, it is saved to the phone but will not automatically be sent to the server. In order to send completed forms to the server, connect to Wi-Fi and select “Send Finalized Form”. Select the forms you would like to send and then click “Send Selected”.
