Assessing the Public Health Risks for Poor Urban Neighborhoods as a Result of Unsafe Fecal Sludge Management

Rapid urbanization has led to a sanitation crisis in urban areas of low-income countries. Many questions exist about how best to use limited public funding to improve sanitation and reduce public health risks. City governments and development partners lack tools to assess the public health risks from poor sanitation. The SaniPath Exposure Assessment Tool is designed to assess public health risks related to poor sanitation and to help prioritize sanitation investments based on the exposures that have the greatest public health impact.
