Forum Guidelines
Promotions and Advertising on the Forum
To maintain the integrity of our community and ensure a positive, focused environment, advertising and promotional content from outside organizations or businesses is generally prohibited on the Forum. We ask that all members respect these guidelines to keep the Forum a helpful and welcoming space for everyone.
What is Allowed:
One-time personal item sales or requests by residents.
Promotion of Sandpiper-approved events or activities. (Please limit these promotions to once or twice a week.)
Seeking recommendations for businesses or services from fellow residents.
Sharing personal recommendations for companies or individuals, particularly when requested, as long as the post does not resemble commercial advertising.
Not Allowed:
Discussions on external political or religious matters, including promotion of outside political or religious organizations or views.
Discussions of Sandpiper Issues
From time to time, I receive feedback from residents about what many refer to as "bickering" on our Forum, and I’ve even had a few members leave because of it. While I believe it’s important for us to have a platform to voice concerns, it's essential that we approach discussions constructively.
Email can be a great tool for this, as it allows recipients to read or disregard messages with ease, unlike a meeting where everyone must listen to extended discussions.
That being said, I want to emphasize that the purpose of our Forum is to make progress, not to prove who is right. I encourage everyone to avoid personal comments and to be mindful of the tone we use. If you feel the need to address a specific issue, I suggest sending a direct message to the individual involved. Let’s work together to keep these conversations focused and avoid airing disagreements publicly whenever possible.
For those wondering, I have privately addressed a few posts that made me uncomfortable, and I’m happy to report the responses have generally been positive. Please help me by keeping our discussions respectful and constructive so I don’t have to intervene in the future.
Thank you for your understanding,
Larry
