One of the many things we love about Sandpiper is the attractiveness of the community. As purchasers, we understood that we had opted for community living. Residents continue to appreciate the well-cared-for appearance and the supported home values. The Architectural Committee serves us as an arbitrator between what individuals might want and the interests of the broader community.
Read your association documents carefully to learn the scope and purpose of the architectural committee. You can read the ARCHITECTURAL COMMITTEE POLICIES AND PROCEDURES DOCUMENT AVAILABLE IN THE OFFICE.
Meetings
The Architectural and Appearance Committee meets the second and fourth Tuesday of most months. These meetings are at 1:00 pm in the POA offices. Requests should be submitted well in advance of beginning work. These petitions must be presented using forms available below and in the POA office. Residents submitting requests may attend the bi-monthly meetings, but should leave after their request is discussed out of respect for the privacy of other matters.
Submitting a Request
The links listed at the top of this page may help you decide if you need to submit a request to the Architectural Committee. Requests submitted to the Architectural Committee fall into 3 categories (forms below and in the office):
Paint requests need to be based on the color schemes displayed in a book kept in the office. Using these approved paint colors avoids putting the committee in the awkward position of making subjective decisions. Minor touch-up with the same color does not need approval.
Architectural requests should be made whenever contemplating exterior changes to one's structure or landscaping. Keep in mind that many architectural changes require city permits as well. (See City Permits subpage)
Complaints may be submitted if a resident believes that a neighbor has made unapproved changes or is neglecting their property in a significant way. The complainant remains anonymous. The committee does not generally patrol Sandpiper, looking for problems, but does act on submissions from neighbors. Complaints and Other Details
