BEAUTIFICATION AWARD
SELECTION PROCESS
Halo Rider
The award process begins when a Sandpiper resident turns in a nomination form to the POA office. The office manager or Ed Houser alert me that a nomination form has been submitted. I hold all submitted forms until the end of the month. I then enlist the help of my property judges to look at each home. A rating form is completed for each of the properties. The form is designed to cover the areas of:
• Paint, siding, windows and shutters
• Yard appearance—grass (lawn), shrubs, trees and flowers
• Driveways, walkways and patios
• And last, but not least, overall curb appeal.
Each category is evaluated on a point system. The maximum value of points for each home is 40. My committee returns their forms to me to determine the recipient of the award. I then call the winner to let them know they have been selected to receive the award. If they accept, I set an appointment to meet so that I can interview them for the Newspiper article, and take pictures of their home. Some recipients decline the nomination.
I then write the article. The owners then read the article to see if any changes are needed. When the article and pictures are ready, they are submitted to the Newspiper. The articles are due the 15th of the month, prior to the month the award is given.
