If you look straight ahead you will see these bright red berries that grow on bushes in the winter. They’re called Winterberry Holly. They might look bright and delicious, but it is toxic towards humans, but edible for small mammals and birds such as squirrels, cottontail rabbits, cardinals, and robins. These small red berries prefer to grow naturally in acidic soil with a lot of sunshine. Don't stop with just these red berries, go scan the other QR codes and learn about more things.
This self-guided tour is a project of Mrs. Nye's grade eight class at Moraine Hills Public School.
