In front of you are the invasive Phragmites. Phragmites is a tall grass plant that's been damaging the Saigeon Trail ecosystem for decades. Although it's not confirmed how it got here, it came from its native ecosystem in Eurasia (Asia and Europe). No animal in the Saigeon trails eats them, so they keep reproducing at a rapid rate and there is little chance they will go anytime soon. This Invasive plant is decreasing the rate of other native plants from growing. Overall, these phragmites are killing the ecosystem.
This self-guided tour is a project of Mrs. Nye's grade eight class at Moraine Hills Public School.
