About SAC-ASHA
The South Asian Caucus of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association) is one of the many Multicultural Constituency Groups (MCCGs), which are allied/related professional organizations that are independent of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA). The SAC-ASHA was established as a forum for interaction and collaboration among clinicians, researchers, and students of South Asian origin in the field of communication sciences and disorders, and to advocate for quality speech-language-hearing services to diverse individuals of South Asian origin residing in the US.
About ASHA KIRAN
The South Asian Caucus (SAC-ASHA) publishes periodic e-newsletters called ASHA KIRAN. ASHA KIRAN is designed to be a platform to highlight research and clinical advances as they relate to evidence based clinical service delivery to/by individuals of South Asian origin. ASHA KIRAN includes various sections including but not limited to:
Spotlight will profile a South Asian professional in a field affiliated to speech, language, and/or hearing. This section will highlight interviews from a pioneer in our field or a budding professional with distinguished early career either in academia, clinical innovation/service delivery, or in entrepreneurship.
Articles provide readers with a broad overview of current developments in research and clinical practice in speech, language, and hearing, particularly as they pertain to service delivery to and by individuals of South Asian origin.
Voices provides the opportunity for members of the SAC-ASHA to express opinions, narrate experiences (as a graduate student, at a new job, as a South Asian professional, etc.), respond to articles published in ASHA KIRAN, or raise issues that they would like the SAC-ASHA to address.
People will feature updates on South Asian members, including publications, awards, appointments, and other personal achievements.
