SimiGau to Dokhang 2036 meters to 2791 meters
That's about 6679 to 9156 feet.
We woke up early today and had an excellent breakfast of eggs, cereal, and toast. After packing our day packs, we left early. The hike was pretty steep and pretty long. Today we got to see the holy mountain of Gaurishankar 7135 meters. This mountain is the mountain of long life! The mountain was like a ghost out of the clouds, and sits on the China and Nepal border. During this time, we also passed the elevation of Gunnison!
Lunch was at a small village and was delicious as usual. After lunch, we again headed out for our trek. Today was leech day as there were many of them! In one area, we all learned a new definition of "leech field"! We stopped for a rest at a tea house with baby goats - but also a swarm of bees. Hurrying out of there, we headed to our next camp at Dokhang. Here, we also stayed in a tea house. However, there was no dining area, so they set up a dining tent for us! The evening for dinner, we had warm wet rolled up towels to clean with before eating! What a luxury!
After dinner again the sun is set and we all head to bed!
