After getting up and going through our normal routine, about 9 of us decided we go on the hike. However, by the time we were ready, it was POURING!!!! Chhiring told us we'd wait until after lunch and then decide if we wanted to go. He said it wouldn't be much fun to hike in this much rain.
Well after lunch, it was still raining. It was a great rest day and we just hung out at Chhiring's tea house. Later, after dinner, Chhiring wanted to take anyone that wanted to go to the monastery for a blessing and the Sherpa dances. Deb and I were the only ones to go. As we walked into the monastery which was crowded, we were handed all kinds of food. There were rice cakes, cereal, candy, festival bread, popcorn, cookies and chips. There was so much food, I ended up sticking a bunch in my pockets. We also had tea. Chhiring found us a place to sit and after a while, we went up for the blessing. We sat waiting for something else to happen, but all the lamas had gone. That's when Chhiring told us they went for Sherpa stew and we headed out on the porch for stew.
After the eating, the REAL dancing started. All the Sherpa men got in a line and did a dance and song. This continued for a while until Namdu, Chhiring's daughter rescued Deb and me and took us up by the kitchen where all the younger people were dancing. This was fun and we danced round and round in circles until Chhring came and told us we needed to go home. That was about 11:00, and I crashed when I reached my bed.
NO PICTURES TODAY BECAUSE OF THE RAIN!
