Orthopaedic Implant - Hip Prosthesis
Orthopaedic Implant - Hip Prosthesis
Hip replacement surgery, or hip arthroplasty, is a surgical procedure in which an orthopaedic surgeon removes the diseased parts of the hip joint and replaces them with new, artificial parts. These artificial parts are medical devices that mimic the function of the typical hip joint (Source: NIH)
Total hip replacement is most commonly used to treat joint failure caused by arthritis or hip fracture
This project presents 3D modeling of a hip prosthesis assembly with 5 components:
Femoral Stem, Metal Femoral Head, Polyethylene Insert, Acetabular Shell, and Acetabular Liner
