Some watches don't have all the settings: Memory contraints of firmware restrictions

These settings are applicable for version 7.3.0 and later

The explanation in this color

Application Number or Application Version and reference

🚨 Tips🚨 : Your watch must be set for data recording Every seconds (not smart or Ultratrack), otherwise the application will never find the GPS🚨 Tips🚨 :

All my apps are referenced by name, version and internal app number

Example Avioniq Application Number

V=7.3.0 A=63414

V=7.3.0 is the version of the application: 7 is Version number,  3 is Release number,   0 Fix Pack number

A=63414 is the internal app number

Whith these informations, I exactly know what is the name , the version, and the internal app number you use. These information will be filled in the form if you want a license.

This field is updated when you start the application on your watch, and when you make an update of the application. If you don't start it, the fields will not be updated (you can have this situation if you make update with Garmin express on a computer.

What is your version Type

Indicated if you have a FREE VERSION (default without donation) or a PREMIUM VERSION (with a donation)

This field is updated when you set the license on the settings and when you start the watch face on your watch. If you don't start it, the fields will not be updated (you can have this situation if you make update with Garmin express on a computer.

A license is for an application and a watch reference, even if you make a donation the license must be for this watch reference.

You see the watch reference number too. This number is updated when the application starts up on the watch.

It indicates the reference of your watch and will allow you to choose the exact value to enter in the form if you are requesting a license.

If the application has not yet been launched on the watch, the value will be empty

If you install with Garmin express (on a computer) without having at least launched it on the watch, the value will be empty too.

Example B3291 if your watch is a FENIX 6X

Use this reference if you want a license.

Enter your license id

After your donation you will receive a license. Enter in this field. A license is for a watch reference. If you change for a new watch reference, a new license will be necessary. Example you have a forunner 945 and garmin replace it with a FR945, the license will be good enter same license.  Garmin replaces it with a FR955 (you are lucky), the license will not be good, a new license will be necessary. Contact me at riedid74@gmail.com and you will have 20% off the usual price.

Activity title

indicates in garmin connect the name of your activity. Default is PPG. When I create the recording, the fit type is generic sport. Perhaps Data reporting to STRAVA will not be automatic.

App quick start, only with PREMIUM version

When the app starts, there are several screens before you can use the app

A screen for using the emergency screen (if you select it)

A screen indicating the type of version used

A summary screen of the units used

If you check this setting, the app will suppress most of these screens

Please note that this parameter is only active for a PREMIUM version or during trial period.

App quick start, only with PREMIUM version

In some screens, the application can write the time in 12 or 24 hour mode

Check to have Strava fit compatibility

If you select this option, the fit is compatible with Strava and is automaticly uploaded to your STRAVA account (if you have correctly set the parameters). When you unckeck this option, the fit will not be upload to STRAVA

Select for units in Metrics, unselect for Imperial

The units will be converted according to this setting. Meters to feet, km to miles if your watch doesn't support MENU function.

For recents watches with MENU option, you can set the units independently of the global setting of the application.  Example   Altitude in meter, but Ground speed in mph and Vertical speed in feet/second.

Don't forget to select Save settings when changed with the MENU of the watch, otherwise your settings will be lost for the next fly.

For old watches you can't set the units independently. The application will use this units for all functions.

Display heading on the top of the watch

Display the heading for 0 to 360 and direction N, S W, E...

This information is small, but you can select it directly in differents fields since version 4.4.0

Select for arrow in small format, unselect for large format

Save settings when changed with the MENU of the watch

When you make changes with the MENU, you apply this settings to configuration and will have this settings for all next fly. Some settings are available only in MENU options, not in the application settings.

Display units

You display units  on each field or not

Select for VSI unit in second, Unselect for VSI in minute

Units will be in units/second or units/minutes. Example meter/second or feet/Second

When settings is imperial select miles, unselect for knots

Speed units will be converted to knots or miles

Beep when way up

Select if you want Beep when you way up. But the watch will ring only if the threshold is greater than the value set in the threshold field. Of course, the watch must have the internal device to ring

Ascending vertical speed threshold to ring(use your units settings)

Please indicate the threshold that will ring the watch. Default is 1.0

Example. If you put 1.0, it means that if the VASC is greater than 1.0 then the watch will ring.

This field uses the VASC unit. If VASC is in meter/second then this 1.0 field will represent 1.0 meter/second

If it's in meters/minute, then 1.0 will represent 1.0 meters/minute

Beep when way down

Speed units will be converted to knots or miles. But the watch will ring only if the threshold is lower than the value set in the threshold field. Of course, the watch must have the internal device to ring

Descending vertical speed threshold to ring(use your units settings)

Please indicate the threshold that will ring the watch. Default is 8.0

Example. If you put 8.0, it means that if the VASC is less than 8.0 then the watch will ring.

This field uses the VASC unit. If VASC is in meter/second then this 8.0 field will represent 8.0 meter/second

If it's in meters/minute, then 8.0 will represent 8.0 meters/minute

Vibrate when going up

vibrate or not when you going up. Depends of your watch support of course

Vibrate when way up

vibrate or not when you way down. Depends of your watch support of course. Your watch vibrates if the threshold is exceeded

Select if you want to calibrate altitude from GPS on startup

When you start a mission, you must first calibrate the compass, as well as the barometer.

If you don't do this, you may have a significant altitude offset and the GPS may be better than the barometer. With this option, you ask the application to correct the altitude with the difference observed between the GPS altitude and the barometric altitude.

For example if the GPS altitude is 300m and the barometric altitude is 200m, then the difference of 100m will be applied to each measurement.

You can deactivate it at any time to use the altitude taken from the API

For information on some watches GPS altitude is very bad. for instinct 2 for example

What does the app do when the GPS is ready

Since version 5.2.0, you can set a special action when the GPS is ready.

3 actions are available

1) Wait for the START button to be pressed by the user. Default option. Wait the user action to start the activity.

2) Automatic start of recording. When the GPS is ready, the application will start the activity, even if you don't move.

3) Automatic start of recording if the set speed is reached. When the GPS is ready, the application will start the activity only if you exceed the speed that is set in the "Speed for automatic start of recording" field.

Speed for automatic start of recording (unit depends on your settings)

You set a speed. The units are those of your parameters.

For example it you use metrics /time units in ground speed and ground speed Unit per Hour the field  speed will be in KM/H

For example it you use metrics/time units in ground speed and ground speed Unit per Second the field  speed will be in m/s

All waypoints names

You indicate the name of the WP. Use a separator between each name. Don't forget to add ; at the end

Tips: I recommande to use a ICAO format. I use this name for METAR or TAF

Example LFLP ; LFLL EBBR ;

All waypoint Latitudes

You indicate the latitude of the WP. Use a separator between each name. Don't forget to add ; at the end

Example 45.9020;45.8757;45.8495;

All waypoint Longitudes

You indicate the longitude of the WP. Use a separator between each name. Don't forget to add ; at the end

Example 5.9020;5.8757;5.8495;

ICAO list

Use this link to get your ICAO references. You can select several ICAO with a separator.

Example LFLP;LFLQ;LFLY;

When you save the settings the application calls with an API the GPS coordinates and store in settings. After this field will be removed.

Accuracy in meters before chang of waypoints

When you navigate to waypoints, indicates the distance before changing to next waypoint. Unit is in meter only . Default is 50 meters

Ring every xx minutes (O=no Alarm)

You can set an alarm on your watch. Example 10 minutes, so you will have an alarm and a vibration every 10 minutes. Default is no alarm.

Select for 3 sec Vert Speed Delay, Unselect for 5 sec

This is the latency time to calculate the vertical speed up or down . Default 3 seconds is correct for a lot of users

Vertical update refresh in seconds

This is the reaction time to calculate the vertical speed.Default 2 seconds is correct for a lot of users

Several options

1 second

2 seconds (default)

3 seconds

4 seconds

5 seconds

Bottom Field

You can choose differents displays

Several options

1) Display elapsed time (default option)

2) Display your local time

3) Display Zulu time A Z is displayed in this case

magnetic declinaison in degres.

Magnetic Declination.

Magnetic declination, sometimes called magnetic variation, is the angle between magnetic north and true north. Declination is positive east of true north and negative when west. Magnetic declination changes over time and with location.

You can use Automatic update magnetic declinaison

Automatic update magnetic declination

With your position, I call an API to getthe declination of your position. I update the settings and set the correct déclination. If the update is correct, the automatic update is unselected.

Select for Return to Back Navigation, unselect for a Waypoint

Default is return to back

But you can navigate to a special wayppoints.

If your watch has a lot of memory, you can set several waypoints.

As soon as you arrive at the waypoint (a settings, 50 m is the default), the application will take the next one and will show you the new direction

use this link for more informations about navigation

If your watch has a lot of memory, you can use WAYPOINTS for ICTA around me. Maximum 20km around your position. Maximun 10 ICTA location.

Before you must find all ICTA airports around your position and select the ICTA as a waypoint

Enter ZERO altitude for landing zone

Here are 2 examples of the ZERO altitude definition

What is ZERO ALTITUDE

This is the difference between the current altitude where I am and the landing point (calculated or parameterized)

1) I did not set the height of my landing point, or WAYPOINTS coordinates,

so the application takes as landing base the altitude at the START of the application and the GPS point of the aerodrome.

Example 1

I leave the airfield that is 500 meters above sea level with my paramotor and I will land on the airfield

I am at 1250 m altitude,

the altitude ZERO field will show me 1250-500 ==> 750 meters, it is the altitude that remains to me before landing.

The direction arrow will indicate the START GPS point so the airport.

2) I set the altitude of my landing point (different from 0) and GPS coordinates of my target,

so the application take as landing base the altitude that I indicated and the arrow will indicate the direction to the GPS point.

Example 2

I leave the airfield which is 500 meters above sea level with my paramotor and I will land on the opposite hill which is 850 m above sea level.

I am at 1250 m altitude,

the ZERO altitude field will show me 1250-850 ==> 400 meters, it is the altitude that remains to me before landing.

the direction arrow will indicate the landing point of the hill, GPS parameter that I indicated and not the START point which is the airport.

Alarm if oxygen is bellow threshold.

Select it if you want this option.

The application checks you oxygen. Don't forget to set in your watch Pulse Oximeter ; Pulse Ox Mode ; All day

Oxygen threshold in percent %

You specify the threshold below which the alarm is triggered. Of course Alarm if oxygen is bellow threshold must be selected

Display 4 fields

When you have 2 fields, you can select 2 top fields or 2 bottom fields

Use  LAP key in this case to rotate the 2 fields

User emergency screen

The app uses your GPS position

When starting the app, you will display this left screen for 6 seconds if you set the use of the Emergency screen in the settings, and you don't set quick start

After 10 minutes, every minute the application analyzes your position

If in 10 minutes the average of your positions has not moved by approximately 50 meters, the application considers that you have a critical problem.

The app will constantly display this screen on your watch (like on the left screen).

The application sends an email to a person of your choice (Emergency mail field in the settings), copies you, and indicates your last position in GPS degrees.

The email is in three languages English, French and German.

Your garmin connect app must be started and you will need to have Bluetooth

enabled on the watch and phone.

You can suppress the alert with the STOP and START buttons.

The application will analyze the evolution of your position again.

If the mails are the default, this function will no operationnal
