Hammond was excited. The new dinosaurs had just arrived. “Proceratosaurus! The smallest of our latest batch of prehistoric inhabitants here at Jurassic Park. Let’s meet the rest!” The scientists loaded into a Jeep and set off into the park.
“So, where exactly did these new animals come from?” asked Ellie. So far she’d been under the impression the animals were bred on Isla Nublar.
“Isla Sorna. We call it Site B” Hammond replied. “A massive holding pen and secondary research facility for our dinosaurs. Spared no expense.”
“Didn’t want to keep all your eggs in one incubator, huh John?” Malcolm cut in.
The Jeep came to a rest overlooking the jungle river. Down at the shore a lone Baryonyx fished for prey. They observed for a while, before descending into the jungle and onto a platform overhanging the river. Directly ahead was a large hadrosaur, an Edmontosaurus. Grant and Sattler got out of the Jeep to get a closer look.
“Even after all this time. Seeing a dinosaur is still a… profound moment” remarked Grant.
“This is why Jurassic Park must succeed Dr. Grant. I want the world to have that same profound memory”. Hammond beamed.
They continued on to a quarry West of the Visitor Centre. Below the jeep was a dark red dinosaur - Herrerasaurus. Hammond gestured to the rocky cliffs surrounding the enclosure. “This is only temporary, the elevation keeps the dinosaurs away from the road. We have plans for a rollercoaster here as part of our second phase of attractions. The Bone-Shaker! Spared no expense.”
“Hey kids! Look, dinosaurs!” exclaimed Malcolm sarcastically. “And this time, it’s mostly safe. Probably. And if you survive, you can, ahh, buy a t-shirt!”
Uneasy with the idea of a dinosaur theme park, Grant considered the appeal of the potential goldmine of park profits. He’d never been a fan of venture capitalists. “Muldoon told us there was another company trying to steal InGen’s research.”
Hammond’s expression darkened, and replied gravely. “Biosyn. They are my only real competition at the moment. And I need to stop them before they can do any more damage.”
