The trio of Gallimimus that went missing during the roundup in the central plains had been living freely along the Jungle River for a while now. Most of the river was a blindspot in the park’s motion sensor tracking system, which had trouble distinguishing the rushing water from organic life.

The Gallimimus had come down to the shoreline to drink. They ducked their heads one at a time, instinctually keeping watch for predators despite living in manufactured safety their entire life.
As the dinosaurs took turns stooping their long necks at the river’s edge, a pair of cold and calculating reptilian eyes watched from them, keeping a distance further up the bank.

Lights flashed on the central monitor in the control room as the 3-D map of Isla Nublar triangulated upon Eastern reaches of the island. Ellie and Muldoon gazed up at the screen, their conversation interrupted.
“The motion sensors are picking up some unusual activity.” Muldoon explained, already standing up and preparing to leave. “In the Eastern sector of the jungle river, right next to the Baryonyx paddock. Most likely our escaped Gallimimus.”
Ellie turned to Malcolm, who was busy with some chaos models on a computer. “Ian, do you mind helping out? Alan’s out taking some photographs for me and we need another hand to operate the net. Shouldn’t be a problem.”
Malcolm looked up from his computer screen. “Right. Right. “Shouldn’t be a problem.”. That’s the most common, and uh, least true, words spoken at Jurassic Park.” Reluctantly he stood and joined her.
As Malcolm and Ellie left the room, Muldoon retrieved a shotgun from the weapons cabinet. Just in case, he thought to himself.
