Reflections on the April 2013 Reunion

as well as Bill Crusey enjoy the Saturday races
What a wonderful experience! I decided to come to the event for the purposing of honoring the sport and the folks who made it possible for me--Cadle, Remuzzi, DiFiore, Galloway and Barrett, and this was exactly the tone of the reunion. Things that impressed me were your speech on how we oarsmen make good husbands- maybe "appreciated " is a better word than "impressed." What impressed me are the wives. I guess you have to be pretty independent and strong to deal with such stubborn characters. The truly remarkable aspect of this reunion was the presence of two widows and Bob Remuzzi's kids.
The crew reunion was a huge success…Reconnecting with fellow oarsmen from the 1960’s was, frankly, an emotional experience for us, as well as great fun. The camaraderie and warmth we felt all weekend was very special.
What a phenomenal job you have done in bringing us all together.

Both Maureen and I enjoyed the wonderful weekend. Hopefully, this is the beginning of many more such events. We definitely plan to make the Dad Vail next year.

celebrate friendship at Kramers on Friday evening
So many people that I hadn't seen in such a long time…Ninety people was very impressive! Everything was well organized: from accommodations to transportation to the main event on Saturday evening which was absolutely lovely. It was fun to see the photos which needless to say brought back lots of fond memories. I also want to mention how pleased I was to be presented with my shirt. Thank you for all that you did to make it truly a wonderful weekend.

the "Spirit of '62" shell on Saturday afternoon
Such a wonderful DC weekend…filled with friendship and college memories, even though bittersweet at times. The ‘Love of my Life’ would have so enjoyed memory lane. I still believe he was ‘on my shoulder.’
The reunion was great fun for both of us and reminded me of wonderful days on the river that I had forgotten about because I had not kept in touch.
Every moment of the weekend was delightful! Thanks so much for your putting such admirable skills to work so effectively -- miraculously, even!

Thanks for having made this terrific reunion possible.
For all of us who have been outside the past events of GU crew activity, I think I can say that it has been a remarkable few days of remembrance and re-bonding.

I’m really sorry I couldn’t make it. I hope the momentum of this gathering will carry over to future years. But I have to ask, Who are all those old guys?!

Thanks so much for making us a part of a great and memorable weekend. Personally, I was so happy to finally get to meet and talk with so many of the guys I have been hearing about and writing about for the past months. Their encouragement and enthusiasm for the history project touched me deeply, and I was proud to be part of their celebration of the "Spirit of 62."
Linda, Arlene and I share the sentiments you spoke so eloquently last night about crew making good spouses (of both wives and husbands.) We feel exactly the same way.
Thanks so much for everything this weekend. It was wonderful for all of us, even those of us who did not row here in the Cadle era.

Thank you for an amazing weekend. It was really fun to get a deeper sense of the history of the program I am so lucky to be a part of and to meet so many people who care about it.

Be careful, once you have delivered the last of the living Cadle rowers, you may be asked to find and bring a few back from the great beyond. If anyone could do it, it would be you.
