Georgetown is participating in the George Washington Invitational Regatta on Friday and Saturday of Easter weekend, April 10-11, 2009. The format is for each school to race three dual races; the first round is Friday afternoon, the second on Saturday morning, and the third on Saturday afternoon. In all, there are six schools on the men's side and six on the women's. The Hoyas will compete against different opponents in each race.
The schedule on Saturday will be too hectic to attempt a boat dedication. However on Friday, the racing starts at 1:30 pm and there will be time to dedicate our shell to the late Don Cadle beforehand at 12:15 pm. Don is a seminal figure in the history of Georgetown Rowing. He was the architect of modern rowing on the Hilltop and an inspirational coach who had a profound effect upon his rowers and upon the future of the entire program. Don's family and many of his oarsmen as well as current coaches and rowers will be on hand for this special occasion.
We will gather outside Thompson's Boathouse at 12:15 pm and will commence the ceremony fifteen minutes later. We hope you will be able to attend and to join in cheering the Hoyas on during the afternoon races.
Never Row,
Tony Johnson
