Week 8

Every time I passed or walked through the school's core, students would bow their heads and greet me with "GoodAfternoon/Good Morning Teacher." "Hello, Teacher," I heard from the students, and it warmed my heart. Experiencing this would help you do better for the cute children. This week is our "observation week." Finally, the long wait is over. At the same time, I felt conflicted emotions. got nervous and excited at the same time because finally the observation by the supervisor was done. Prior to my observation day, I spent a lot of time preparing instructional materials and not relying on PowerPoint presentations in case of an emergency when the power went out. There is not enough time to prepare because I have a class every day and I also need to prepare for more than just the observation. Fortunately, my cooperating teacher offered that she would handle all online classes while I would handle all face-to-face classes. I got relief because my take isn’t that heavy. Finally, I got the chance to prepare. It's not just that I have a lot of time to prepare; at least I can focus on my class face-to-face.

In week 8, our observation week by our supervisor, there are a lot of things that happened this week, not just the observation week, but also the video recording for the anniversary of the school. All the teachers and the principals wish us the best of luck. They keep on motivating us and telling us that we can do it. Although we teach our students every day, this week I feel nervous because my supervisor will witness my teaching skills together with my students. I was being observed with my grade 6 students. On the day of my demo teaching, I was nervous because it was already 1 pm and I didn’t have my students. It was my first time entering the classroom at 1 pm. There was no grade 6. But luckily, there were eight students present in the class even though they were late. After seeing them, my nervousness got lost. This grade 6 class is one of my favorites because whenever I enter the classroom, I can see they are smiling, even if they are wearing masks. One of the reasons why I liked these pupils was that they were participative during my class. He listens to me very well and always asks questions. On the day that my supervisor entered the classroom, they greeted my supervisor and continued our class. They were happy to participate in my games and enjoyed arranging the words during my activity. Although there were only eight pupils, we still had interaction in the class. I didn’t put it in my mind that my supervisor was in the back observing me. I was enjoying the lessons and enjoying teaching myself the usual class whenever I conduct them. After my class, my supervisor observed me. I gave them chocolate for participating in my class, and I thanked them for always listening to me and participating in my class. After all of us were being observed by our supervisors, the principal congratulated us. They saw us improving as individuals. They witnessed us from the day we deployed until now. They can’t believe they are handling both classes online and face-to-face and surviving every week. After our observation day, we had our video recording session with the students and teachers. We are enjoying our week, not just this week but every week because of the new experiences we get to have every day.
