Week 3

Seeing your students virtually is the reason why I am excited to enter the zoom class every day. You will feel that they value you as their teacher. Entering their zoom classroom and greeting you with "good afternoon" or "good morning" and "goodbye" makes my heart full. That simple greeting makes me feel like I am a teacher. I can’t imagine students will greet you. Way back when I was a student, every time I encountered my teacher or instructor I would greet them, and now that I am a student teacher, students will greet me. Being a student-teacher isn’t easy because you need to do the task as a student and also as a teacher. I will do my part as a teacher. On this journey, I’ll know that it will be full of more experiences and memorable ones.

In my second week as a VFES practice teacher, I was able to meet with my students again and get to know them better. They are so adorable and very participative and active. Every day I meet my students' different grade levels. This is what I do for the rest of the day: I write my lesson plan, make the printed materials, and make a PowerPoint presentation. This week has been a struggle for me because I need to manage my time because there are so many things I need to pass, especially for my demo teaching. I need to create printed materials for the 6th grade. Printing materials isn’t easy because you don’t need to put in wordy words. For them to be able to learn and understand what the topic is all about and for them to read. According to my cooperating teacher, if I was too wordy in my printed materials, students would get bored and wouldn't be able to read. So, after I make the printed materials before I send them to my cooperating teacher, I send them first to my partner if she has to put them on before I pass them to my cooperating teacher. I also need to pass our lesson plan. In our lesson plan, we made it by parting with my partner because it was so challenging for us, especially since we are handling Filipino 6. In creating our lesson plan, we made it a detailed lesson plan with 4a’s.

All in all, during our 2nd week, we only observe grades 4, 5, and 6 because it is their post-review. They review their answers from the last week of their examination. My cooperating teacher returned their Filipino and Social Studies test papers so I could see their scores and review their answers. Having a post-review is also important because students will be able to know why their answers are wrong so that the teachers can explain them to them. My cooperating teacher also checked my output, which includes the printed materials, lesson plan, and PowerPoint presentation that we will be using in our demo teaching. Luckily, my cooperating teacher approved it somehow. There are a few changes, but she approved it for our demo teaching.
