Three prototypes were created; a physical watch model, a digital interactive watch interface prototype, and a digital interactive phone interface prototype.
Physical watch model
First, a model of the watch was created in Solidworks. This was then 3D printed, however, this first prototype was not suitable enough in terms of quality and detail. Hence the model was adjusted so that the detail was finer and so the watch straps could be attached. Finally, this was then reprinted, sanded, and painted black to meet the wishes of the participant. The straps could then easily attach to the watch face and a plastic screen representation inserted to create the final watch model. The goal of this model is to get a realistic look and feel of the watch that would not be achieved digitally. This could then be used in the evaluation with the participant.
Watch interface
Simultaneously, a final watch interface prototype was made. This was first done in a rough mock-up and then developed into a more detailed and interactive prototype made in Adobe XD. The prototype clarifies the main use and function of the watch application and allows the development of functions that may otherwise have been forgotten. It can then be used in evaluation to see if the interactions and design decisions are clear, pleasant and easy to use for the participant. If not, these could then be adjusted in the future. The final interface can be found on the Final design page.
Interactive phone interface
An agenda application prototype was also developed in Adobe XD. This used the mock-up chosen in workshop 4 as a basis and was then further developed with additional functions, improved interactions and a more pleasant interface design. The main functions of the app are also made interactable. This could, again, be evaluated with the co-designer to determine how well it suits him and what further details could be changed. The final application mock-up can be found on the Final design page.
