In A Daily Defense, Jimmy compiles 366 challenges that Catholics often hear from skeptics and non-Catholics—about God, Jesus, Scripture, morality, Mary, history, and a host of doctrines—and teaches you how to answer them.
Combining deep learning with decades of experience explaining Catholic belief and practice on a popular level, he cuts to the heart of each subject, offering pithy but powerful replies that are both effective and easy to master.
We will be holding our first Apologetic Day covering the topic "Christian Hypocrisy" from Jimmy Akin's book "A Daily Defense". See the "Weekly Dose" for more information.
Discussion Questions:
Think of your experiences over the past several years as an active Catholic. Have you ever engaged with somebody who was against church teaching or was not a believer in Jesus Christ? As you look back at it, did you respond with anger, or were you able to guide them in another way? Share with your table what transpired.
If you haven’t experienced the above, imagine that you are talking to someone who is opposed to Christianity or the teachings of the church. What would be your initial response to their comments? What if they were insulting of Christians? Would it change your response? What would you hope to accomplish by your response?
How does the information above help you when encountering someone in the future? What aspects of this defense may you not have thought about before.
