Meeting Formats

Men's Prayer Breakfast

Over 200 men meet most Wednesday mornings in the downstairs Social Hall of OLGC at 6am. We sit in small group formats 6-7 men per table which are assigned based on your input. We begin with an opening prayer, coffee, and a light breakfast. This is followed by prayer intentions at your tables. Next we have open discussion about our current discussion series at the tables.

There is usually a small amount of pre-reading and 1-2 questions designed to foster conversation. Some days are "off-topic" where we speak openly about issues that we may be confronting. Each table has a Table Leader who helps facilitate the discussion. Men remain at their tables through several studies (approximately 12 months) and then we mix the table assignments up so that we are able to meet new men and also receive different perspectives.

We end in prayer and then clean up the Social Hall space at 7 am. Each table rotates responsibility for setting up the room, making coffee and buying the light breakfast offerings. Quarterly, we also attend Mass as a group.

Virtual Joes

During COVID, the ability to meet in large groups was halted. Most of the men moved to meeting virtually during this time. What we found was that our curriculum translated equally well to a virtual format. After COVID ended and the restrictions on meeting removed, some men continued to meet virtually. Meeting virtually allows men who through distance, working hours, health, or other factors that prevent them from coming to our breakfast format to still get the benefits of our being a Regular Joe.

We currently have 3 virtual tables. They meet at different times: Tuesdays from 6:30 to 7:30 am (Hammond), Wednesdays from 6:00 to 7:00 am (Salter), and Wednesdays from 6:30 to 7:30am (Dockery).

Faith Boosters

Quarterly, we put on a Men's Mass with Dinner and a Speaker. These events are open to all males (Mass is open to everyone). If you can sit still and listen to a speaker, you are welcome. This is a great way for Father's and Son's to share time together in a Faith based event. It is also a great way to see what the Regular Joes are all about before you prayerfully consider joining.

Men's Conference

New to 2024, the Regular Joes are adding an annual Men's Conference to our formats. This conference is open to males of all ages who are able to benefit from the topics discussed. Registration for these events is required and registration will be closed when occupancy limits are met.
