Today's OLGC MPB group is an off-shoot of a similar group that was established at Plymouth First United Methodist over 20 years ago. Several of our group's "founding fathers" at some point in their life attended this group.
In September of 2009, the OLGC Regular Joes Men's Prayer Breakfast was established. That group started with roughly 30 men and 5 Table Leaders. Back then we met at the Parish House next to the school on Penniman Avenue. The Parish House provided a comfortable and quaint environment for our fledgling group. Over time, we continued to grow and by the end of 2010 we had close to 70 men and the crowding and noise level began to make the meeting experience less than desirable. In January of 2011, we moved into the church's Social Hall. While admittedly sacrificing some ambience, this space is more conducive for our group and has allowed us to continue to grow - at the start of 2012 we are blessed with 116 men.
In 2023, the Regular Joes number over 200 men attending breakfast every Wednesday morning. We also have over 40 men attending sessions virtually with their Table Leader. These men are located across the US and Internationally.
Our resources (study guides and curriculum plans) allow us to follow a common plan, while always leaving room for the Holy Spirit to guide us and the table leaders to achieving our mission.
