With the onset of global warming, the environment needs to pull out all measures to lower carbon dioxide levels in the atmosphere, all while absolutely reining in waste from spilling into our oceans.
A lot of that burden falls upon environmental engineering, tasked with creating the solutions. Here are some ways environmental engineering is helping the future:
Monitoring compliance and enforcement
When a manufacturer produces byproducts, environmental engineers ensure that the entity involved follows the strict rules and regulations set by the government. Regulations such as Cross-State Air Pollution Rate need to be enforced strictly to prevent abuse and excessive air pollution.
Designing and implementing solutions
Environmental engineers design and create new solutions to combat environmental issues such as pair, ground, and water pollution, as well as create renewable energy to wean industries from fossil fuels.
What’s great about the situation today is that more and more inventors are participating in the creation of solutions. Of course, designing these machines is just one part of the job. Implementing these solutions can be as big a task, as this requires significant amount of funding, testing, and permits that need to go through official and government channels.
Saving the planet is not a lucrative business. But the faster everyone realizes that the margin we have left for doing so is slimmer than we think, the bigger support we can give to environmental engineers and their projects, and make a lifestyle shift toward reduced carbon footprint on an individual basis.
