Artifact 1: Mini unit
Rationale:
Knowledge indicator 3B, "understands how to develop short- and long-range plans, including transition plans, consistent with curriculum goals, student diversity, and learning theory."
This is an example of a unit outline that I taught. This was looking beyond just the one lesson I was teaching for the day, but thinking about how I could best help the students understand through the unit so that it all connected. I learned about how important it is to see beyond what you are just teaching at the moment and seeing big picture.
Artifact 2: presentation on Easter traditions
Rationale:
Performance indicator 3K, "incorporates experiences into instructional practices that relate to a student’s current life experiences and to future life experiences."
I lived the experience of Easter in Spain and I was able to share this with students in this slideshow. There were certain aspects that in america we associate poorly that are a really important cultural tradition so I was sure to emphasize this so that the students can see that their associations and traditions are different. It is also good to know for if you travel and see these traditions or if you want to move to a Spanish speaking country some day. I was able to learn a bit about what students in the area did and didn't know about these traditions and teach them a bit about this.
