Artifact 1: Teaching strategies presentation and paper for students with ADHD
Rationale:
Knowledge indicator 1D says, "understands the impact of cognitive, emotional, physical, and sensory disabilities on learning and communication pursuant to the Individuals with Disabilities Education Improvement Act (also referred to as “IDEA”) (20 USC 1400 et seq.), its implementing regulations (34 CFR 300; 2006), Article 14 of the School Code [105 ILCS 5/Art.14] and 23 Ill. Adm. Code 226 (Special Education)".
In this example, I thought through in depth and had a presentation for my fellow future teachers about how to best help students who have ADHD in the classroom. I thought through and understand the impact of the disability and am able to implement what helps them based on what I said in the presentation. In these, I learned especially how I can serve students with ADHD, but also I got to learn from my other future teacher's presentations about how to best serve all the other students with the other disabilities.
Artifact 2: Commitment do diversity and inclusion
Rationale:
Knowledge indicator 1G, "understands how to identify individual needs and how to locate and access technology, services, and resources to address those needs."
This paper is an example of the experiences I have already had and what as a future educator I want to be able to commit to in order to best serve my students who might have different needs or are diverse. I was able to think about what technology is available and how I can best serve these students. I learned a lot during this as before I was unaware of some of the inclusive technology that was available.
