This artifact was a component of SPED 551, Inclusionary Practices. For this class I wrote a paper on my Special Education Philosophy. This paper covers the history of special education, which includes facts including the enactments of ADA and IDEA, but also includes my philosophy of inclusion and what my role is a teacher as it pertains to inclusion. In this paper I shared my personal beliefs about inclusion and what I would do to accommodate for students with disabilities. My rationale for inclusion is based on the belief that all students should have the same access to content no matter what their learning styles or needs are. All students should have the same opportunities to be successful in the classroom. As a teacher, my role is to provide students with the tools they need to be successful and that they can use to overcome the barriers that may be impeding their success. My paper goes into much more detail about my philosophy of inclusion and by writing this paper it allowed me to reflect on those beliefs. Therefore I feel that this artifact meets the Master Educator Outcome #7 because I it shows that I am an advocate for education and that all students can learn and be successful given the opportunity. This paper also allowed me to grow professionally by realizing what I need to do to help my students achieve their goals.
