This artifact was a component of PSED 520, Seminar in Secondary Education. It is an interactive Google Slide Presentation with Pear Deck add-on. The purpose of this project was to create a lesson to teach your peers how to use a specific online tool or technology. I chose to teach a lesson on Playposit which is an online tool that makes videos interactive. Through research I have found that animation can have a positive effect on motivation. This is especially helpful for the Sciences where video and animation can help students to visualize concepts that might otherwise be difficult to understand in 2-D. But just having the students sit and watch videos may also be ineffective. Playposit can be used to embed questions throughout videos so that students are accountable for the information within the video or animation. For my peer lesson I used an interactive Google Slide presentation with Pear Deck add-on. Embedded within the Google Slides is a link to an animated video as well as to a Playposit video with embedded questions. This artifact meets Master Teacher Outcome #5 because students can follow along and read the slides, collaborate or work at their own pace. They are actively engaged in their own learning while I can provide feedback or guided interaction as needed. It also incorporates many different technology based mediums, including Google Slides, Pear Deck, Google Docs and Playposit.
