There are 6 Ranks in this ARPG. Both Kai and Handlers have the same Ranks. Kai will gain points to distribute in the stats and breeding slots when they rank up, Handlers obviously only points.

The higher the Rank, the higher the Power of the Spells and Melee tactics that can be learned.
