COMMON EARS
A very common type of ears, that was even more common on the Ancient Elemental Dragons.
A very common type of ears. The first being to spot them were Ancient Ice and Thunder Dragons, who lived in the northern Ryukoon.
A very common type of ears, small and rounded.Â
A very common type of ears. First registered on an Ancient Fire Dragon that was spotted burning a small village of humans near their den. For a while, any Kai or Monster with this type of ears sent people running for their lives.
A very common type of ears, that apparently branched from the Fox Ears.
The small tuft on the tip allows to feel more accurately the changes in the air around the Kai.
UNCOMMON EARS
Small and fluffy, were once found mostly on northener species.
Frostbite isn't an issue with these ears!
Another type of ears that was often found on Ancient Elemental Dragon. Usually long and quite robust, they stand upright on the head. If the cartilage is broken when the Kai is a pup, they might flop down.
This type of ears was once one with the Draconic ears, and split somewhere around 1200 years ago. Apparently, it is one of the first cases of selective breeding for Kai.
Floppy ears, not too short and not too long. They often remind people of hunting dogs, and because of this, many Kai with this type of ears are used in hunting parties.
Large and sensitive, these ears are the best to have on a Kai that works for the guards or in searching for lost people and pets.
Originally they were found on a Ancient Dark Dragon, who had quite the poor sight. All her children sported these ears, and were passed on through generations and generations.
RARE EARS
Rare type of ears that can be found mostly on carnivore and omnivore Kai, at least in the wild.
Since they appeared, this trait has been bred in all the species, often placed on smaller ones for a "cuter" look.
Rare type of ears, originally created by a large Ancient Earth Dragon who lived in the desert. The Dragon had taken a liking on the animals of the area, and thus created a lot of Kai and Monsters that looked similar to them.
Rare and robust, this type of ears is the best to have when the Kai is a fighter. Plated Ears are covered by hard scales made of keratin, making impossible to tear into them.
Rare and sensitive ears that are often paired with an unexplicable attraction to sources of light. It is probably because of that love of light that this trait got its name, "bug" ears.
Researchers suppose that this attraction could be linked by the Ancient Elemental Dragon who first created them.
Rare ears covered in incredibly shiny scales, that sparkle like crystals. Some can also be see-through, like real crystals.
It is supposed that this type of ears originated from the same dragon who created the Gem Eyes, probably to have something to recognize their seeing children.
MYTHICAL EARS
Incredibly rare type of ears, usually described in the legends as a trait appearing on some of the strongest Ancient Elemental Dragons.
In particular, the webbed version is said to be originated from a large Ancient Air Dragon that ruled the sky over the Dead Mage's Forest.
Feathery and very rare, these ears are said to be the result of a Phoenix god blessing the children of an Ancient Fire Dragon who saved said god.
It is mostly a speculation, especially since a Phoenix god was never mentioned in the history of the Godlings' War.
Very rare type of ears, usually spotted on deep sea Monsters. Some believe that the Dragon who created those Monsters may have also made some Kai species, who then bred with other Kai on land.
Unfortunately, there aren't any informations about them.
Incredibly rare type of ears, sported mostly by Ancient Air Dragons before they were passed on to their Kai offspring. These ears have a very complex set of muscles and tiny bones, that makes them very mobile and expressive.Â
Not often seen on wild Kai, as this type of ears is quite delicate and will be targeted by enemies and other pups when fighting for dominance. It is believed to be a mutation of the Aardvark ears, bred by humanoids to be longer and thinner.
