Catalog Course Description: Analysis of technological applications in literacy instruction; emphasis on computer uses in reading and language arts instruction.
Additional Course Description: This course examines technology and explores ways that it can be integrated in literacy instruction. Primarily, it looks at what it means to be a 21st century learner and teacher; considers ways to use technology, especially digital tools, in instructional delivery; focuses on projects to be used as models for students; and deepens literacy knowledge of the five strands of the English language arts (reading, writing, speaking, listening, and viewing) while challenging us to be better educators and learners.

There is an absolute plethora of information about Google Sites, from how to build a site to reviews. There are how-to videos and step-by-step guides available online; all you have to do is conduct a search for whatever it is you want to know and, in most cases, you will find it. As a quick overview, see this video for a summary of the top 10 things teachers need to know concerning Google Sites.
A note about this website: Each page has a sub-page(s). Look to the right of the page and you will see an arrow pointing down. Click on this. A drop-down menu of the page(s) will appear. Too, the magnifying class in the top right-hand corner will allow you to search the website by keying in what you need to find. You may want to access this video (note: it is also available on iLearn) to help you navigate the website.
Remind is a messaging tool designed for teachers which allows you to communicate with students and/or parents. It is totally free and completely safe. You, the teacher, can correspond with students via text messaging or through email. For the purposes of this course, I encourage you to make use of the texting option as you don't need internet in order to access the messages. If you do not routinely text, then go for the email option. Regardless of the option, you must register for the READ 6100 Remind class.
Note: I will never see your phone number nor will you ever see mine. Remind is web-based or accessible through an app. The app allows more interaction.
Joining READ 6100 Fall 2025 (both options lead to joining; choose one only):
Option 1: Text @reqad to 81010
Option 2: Click the Remind link
