Welcome to RAW PRINT — a space dedicated to the raw, untamed, and DIY spirit of print publishing. This website serves as a gateway to the Raw Print Archive, housed within the School of Art & Design at Nottingham Trent University (NTU).

The archive is organised across three main hubs:

Bonington 151 – Risograph prints and zine collections

Whether you're researching, making, or simply browsing, RAW PRINT celebrates the diverse and experimental world of independent print culture.

Founded by Matt Gill, a lecturer in Nottingham Trent University’s School of Art & Design, RAW PRINT is a platform celebrating independent publishing in all its forms, with a particular love for zines and zine-making. What began with a few zines the first issues of i-D and The Face magazines has evolved into a growing archive now situated at the heart of NTU's city campus within Barnes Wallis 006, Bonington 151, and the Boots Library (see MAP below) — and is now home to hundreds of pieces of printed culture.

The archive brings together zines, independent magazines, brand-zines, and other printed ephemera, capturing the energy and diversity of self-published work. At its core, zine culture is about freedom — no rules, no gatekeepers, just ideas brought to life through print. It’s hands-on, experimental, and deeply personal.

In a world of constant scrolling, print offers something different. Zines invite you to slow down, to connect, and to share ideas in a more tangible, human way. For many, making a zine is also a form of self-care — a chance to switch off, reflect, and create without pressure. Whether you’re into art, activism, storytelling, or simply curious, RAW PRINT is here for you. Explore the collection, get inspired, make something of your own — and Read In Peace.
