From the Charlie Todd Collection This photograph is from Katherine Abney in Biggar. It is a c1915 photo of her grandfather John Potter returning to his father-in-laws farm having delivered milk churns to the Thankerton Creamery. The location in this photo is still quite identifiable today - especially for those of you who 'walk the parish'. The trees have hardly changed nor the buildings in the background. Where was it taken? John Potter was originally from Motherwell and was in line to take over High Cloburn Farm when his father-in-law Adam Smith retired, but two of his brothers were already in the army, so he joined the 2nd Argyll's in Sept 1916 and was killed on 25th September the following year. To make matters worse Adam died shortly afterwards and the family had to sell the farm and Katherine's mother and grandmother moved to Biggar. The location of this photograph is indeed looking down Perryflatts Road in the direction of Thankerton with Perryflatts Farm in the background.

We don't have any other photos of Perryflatts Road but we do have this one taken in Perryflatts Road with Nan Bone of Leggatfoot and Mary Edge as Land Girls working in the Tomato Houses there in 1944. Were they owned by the O'Hara's then?
