Once you have completed your application (thank you!), we will hold it until July. (There is no benefit to submitting early.)
Over the first two weeks of July, we will determine the mix of artists we think will make the most successful show.
We will announce all names simultaneously mid July.
How do we choose?
We are a small arts festival. We are blessed to have more artists interested in participating than we have spaces available. We have had to turn away fantastic artists in the past. Some still haunt me. Choosing the mix of artists each year is always exciting and painful. (Please do not take a booth space if you don't feel pretty confident you can actually work the Arts Fest.)
✅ We look for quality. As just one short-hand measure of this, we are lucky to host artists who have shown in or even have work in the permanent collections of prominent museums across the country. It blows my mind how lucky we have been, but it means you might be turned down even if you are at the top of your class.
✅ Visitors to the show should be rewarded not only with beautiful art, but the fun of something new and something easy to buy. To this end, we look for balance and variety. This means that we might take a novice sculptor over a museum-level painter if we have an over abundance of excellent 2D artists. Or you might see a "craft" on display next to a "fine art." If we don't choose you, it means nothing about your ability as an artist! (Our group exhibition is not limited by goals of balance and variety. Please consider showing in our group exhibition as an alternative/additional way to get your work out in the public eye.)
✅ Preference will be given to previous participants, circle members and Portola Valley residents. We were started by a Portola Valley artists' support group (the creative circle), and we remain committed to this community. You might be turned down simply because you live elsewhere, and we are feeling the pressure of a lot of applicants. But having said that, we have had participants from as far as Santa Cruz, Larkspur, Grass Valley and Petaluma if their work contributed to the overall interest of the festival, and especially if they had an historical connection to Portola Valley. (The Group Exhibition is less constrained by space and is more flexible with its definition of "local.")
Only once you have been selected, you will need to pay your fee. Once that is paid, you can sign up for tables and umbrellas. I wish we had enough equipment for everyone, but we are truly fortunate to have any at all. The church is very generous. Since equipment is limited, it will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis. That seems the most fair, and it has miraculously worked out pretty well in the past.
1.) The Application
If you click on the "Fill out form" button below, you will be taken to another page where the form actually resides. You should be able to fill out all the necessary information there, but the forms use free, Google software, so I apologize that they can be troublesome on iPhones and iPads. If you encounter trouble, please try a computer instead.
2.) The Waiver
There are three ways to fill out the waiver for the Ladera Community Church.
1.) You could steal the first copy of the waiver below (copy, click and drag, etc...) and then email it back to us at pvartsfest@gmail.com;
or
2.) Mail it to 69 Vista Verde Way, Portola Valley, CA 94028;
or
3.) You can use the "forms" version below that.
Only fill out one version.

3.) The Fee
ONLY ONCE YOU HAVE BEEN SELECTED, please pay the fee of $30. We tried to keep it as low as we could possibly manage. Please let us know if it is too onerous... or if you want to pay extra! 🤩 We could certainly use it.
You can use this link to pay via our Paypal, or you can also send a check made out to "Portola Valley Creative Circle" to 69 Vista Verde Way, Portola Valley, CA 94028.
Thank you for your application.
We look forward to seeing you at the arts fest.
Let's have some fun!
