5th Mobility: Thessaloniki- Greece, 26/5- 1/6
1st Day:
All partners were welcomed by host school teachers, taken to Filyro town and visited a beehives field, where they learned about bees, beehives, honey and other bee products by beekeepers, who explained the pros and cons of this traditional Greek occupation.
2nd Day:
Day trip to Meteora- UNESCO Cultural/ Religious Heritage Site
All partners were taken on a guided tour of two female monasteries: Roussanou/ Agia Barbara Monastery and Agios Stefanos Monastery. All monasteries are included in the list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites. They saw how the access on the rocks was made in the past with the use of baskets, heard about the hagiography of the monasteries and admired the unique view over the rocks. At noon, they had the opportunity to taste traditional Greek dishes.
3rd Day:
Trip to Bairi farm in Kilkis
Out in nature and open air, participants had the chance to experience the history of bread making, they were told how flour was produced in the past using simplistic traditional tools with the help of animals, then heard how bread was made and baked and also learned about traditional Greek everyday life of the past.
Later, all partners made Greek coffee, Greek salad, green salad, traditional tzatziki by themselves and tasted them in the old village way in nature. All foods prepared were made using natural products, directly cut from the field, as Greeks used to do in the past.
4th Day:
In the morning, all participants experienced a textile workshop. An experienced weaver presented sheep’s wool, the raw material for textile creation. Then, the weaver made a short description of wool processing , which is called “lanarisma” (=carding), and spinning. After that, she presented the parts of the loom, which are the frame, the warp, the weft and the comb. Finally, the weaver showed the teachers the way the loom functions, and the teachers experienced hands on creating their own textiles.
In the afternoon, partners visited a pottery workshop, where they learned by an experienced pottery artist the history of pottery and clay since the Stone Age till nowadays. Teachers also experienced hands on creating their own pottery piece of work and took it with them as a souvenir of this unique experience.
5th Day:
Visiting teachers taught Greek students about their special customs and traditions, in English, combining traditional with digital tools. Both students and teachers were enthusiastic about the lessons, which definitely were a unique moment in our mobility!!
In the afternoon, participants attended a digital tools workshop, where they used all the experiences gained throughout the mobility to create digital posters and interactive videos using innovative digital tools. The coordinator meeting followed, where participants had the opportunity to discuss about and settle last details concerning the fulfillment of this project, as this was the last meeting of our Erasmus project.
