The Szent Imre Catholic Primary School and Jó Pásztor Kindergarten, AMI is an institution with a joint kindergarten and music school. We have 800 pupils between the age of 3-15 and 118 teachers. The institution is located in Eger. It is a roman catholic school with a lot of experience (Comenius, Erasmus,eTwinning). Besides the projects referred to below we are developing a long term partnership with a Romanian Orphanage. We host foreign teachers in job-shadowing stages.
The European dimension is included in our teaming and curriculum content. Students have chances to take part in shaping Europe's future and be conscious of their common European identity without losing their national roots. The staff uses the method Critical Incidents to create situations which involve people from different cultures and are experienced as being problematic in some way. Based on the needs analysis we decided to integrate cultural elements into academic subjects by using the intangible cultural heritage background to make the learning process more relevant. Teachers want to improve their digital skills to give more quality education to students who belong to the Digital Generation.
The cultural heritage of Eger and its surrounding areas are of an astonishing richness. This project helps make students aware of the richness in the cultural heritage that their living area has as well as provide them the tools to make the most of it. UNESCO list: Folk art of the Matyó embroidery of a traditional community, Safeguarding of the folk music heritage by the Kodály concept. On the other hand our students are European citizens so they must know about other countries’ cultural heritage to complete the European Puzzle of heritage.
