The European Social Fund (ESF) is Europe's most important instrument for promoting employment. It promotes equal opportunities in the labor market, helps people access better jobs and vocational training and qualifications.

REACT-EU is the name given to the construction aid for Europe's cohesion and territories. This is a new initiative that continues and expands the crisis management and mitigation actions under the Corona Crisis Investment Initiative. It will contribute to a green, digital and stable recovery of the economy and provide a bridge to the 2021-2027 funding period. REACT-EU funds will be implemented under the current Structural Funds programs in 2021, 2022 and 2023 and must be spent by Dec. 13, 2023. Within the framework of the ESF, the additional funds are primarily intended to support people who are particularly disadvantaged as a result of the Corona crisis. In addition, digitization in the social, cultural and health sectors as well as small and medium-sized enterprises are to be supported.
