Dorothy IV

Dorothy IV is a fictional probe used to collect data inside a tornado. If you already know  a little about meteorology you might reconize it because this probe is similar to the "TOTO" probe. This is because the TOTO probe is inspired from the Dorothy IV probe. I can agree that this probe looks like a can of beans with a yellow cage around it. 

FEATURES:

• This probe has lights and sirens to alert when the probe is fully deployed.

• This probe has a pressureization detector measuring the pressure differences inside a tornado. 

• Opening the top that releases metal spheres which fly around the funnel and measure the shape of the tornado. 

• Has a few camera mounted to the side to capture some footage, however this is not the main purpose. 

Dorothy made its first appearance in the move "Twister" in 1996. This probe would be mounted on the back of a red 1995 dodge ram 2500. Then they would drop the probe on the ground and set the probe to fully prepare for the oncoming tornado. This probe was also shown in the move "Twisters" as a sequel of Twister in 2024.
