Jockey Club Project IDEA, funded by The Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust and led by City University of Hong Kong, is a three-year education project launched in 2022. The project aims to enhance the literacy and technical skills of secondary school students and teachers to work at the intersection of arts and technology (Arts Tech) for artistic expression and social innovation. The project will also enhance art accessibility and participation with Arts Tech for people with disabilities (PWDs) and promote inclusive arts among the young generation and the general public.
The project utilises CityU’s strengths in Arts Tech to provide platforms for cultivating Arts Tech literacy. Through the Arts Tech train-the-trainer programmes and student workshops, the project fills the niche area for training art teachers as well as nurtures young Arts Tech talents to foster a robust foundation for the flourishing of Arts Tech in Hong Kong. Working with arts and social welfare NGOs on a series of sharing talks by PWDs and arts accessibility experiences, students and teachers can identify their needs during everyday life and arts participation. The project emphasises the role of arts and technology in promoting social inclusion and showcases technology-infused artefacts that create to reflect and inform humanistic values.
