The school strategy should be coherent with the IB mission and philosophy, and it should represent how the school's evidence and documents are planned throughout time.
School documentation evidences that its strategy:
reflects the IB mission and philosophy
Purpose 1.1
(0101-01-0100)
The school develops a mission, vision and strategy that reflect the IB mission and philosophy.
Includes holisitic approaches to education
Purpose 1.2
(0101-01-0200)
The school develops a mission, philosophy and/or strategy that includes a holistic approach to education that goes beyond academic development and encourages awareness beyond the individual and the immediate community.
The strategy, although it must of course be aligned with the IB mission and philosophy, is not an IB-specific document. The document can show that the school strategy is coherent with the IB mission and philosophy, but it could just describe the general strategy of the school without making specific reference to the IB or its programmes. The strategy could also include elements which are unrelated to the IB. The IB will aim at checking, in the school strategy, whether there is coherence between the school strategy and the IB mission and philosophy.
There is no set template for this document: the school is entirely free to determine its format and structure.
The school may include in its strategy the following aspects, among others:
Needs that the school has identified in relation to programme requirements having carried out the self-evaluation
Needs that the visiting team has identified after the evaluation visit (matters to be addressed or recommendations)
Needs arising from the information that the IB evaluation team has provided
Needs arising from the recommendations in the last evaluation report or in the authorization report
