This resource is developed by IB World Schools and is complementary to the published official documentation to support schools in their evaluation process. This resource includes information to guide schools as they embark on a process of inquiry, action and reflection on programme evaluation.
IB programme evaluation is built on the premise that IB programmes, when implemented with fidelity, achieve results that ultimately lead to the achievement of the IB mission. The primary aim of IB programme evaluation is to support schools in continuously developing their capacity to implement IB programmes to have a greater impact on student outcomes through the development of teacher and leader practice.
Programme evaluation engages the school in a reflective process leading to a deeper understanding of both the aspects of the programme that are being implemented effectively and the aspects that need further development. It supports the school—as a learning community—to develop their capacity to work intentionally and strategically to develop their IB programme(s) and enables school leaders and teachers to better direct their efforts and resources.
It is an opportunity for schools to receive support and meaningful, contextually appropriate feedback from the IB on the development of the programme(s) in the school.
