Though not as enduring as The Human Torch, Namor or Captain America, the Angel nonetheless enjoyed a run of over 100 stories. By Golden Age standards, that was a very respectable run. The character was resurrected in the Silver Age as one of the Uncanny X-Men. According to Wikipedia:

He later acquired the "mystic cape of Mercury", which allowed him to fly, but he used this ability only occasionally, as on his campaign against the foreign spy Cat's Paw. "

"The Angel was already active by the time of the first Human Torch and Sub-Mariner adventures, and active as far back as 1936. He fought alongside Namor against World War II "Nazombies", and was later ... a member of both the All-Winners Squad and the V-Battalion during the war."
