One of the main strengths of or Media Center is flexibility. Our space, furniture, and schedule are flexible. Because of this, we host many learning activities throughout the year. ELL classes have scheduled lessons on how to make iMovie trailers for book reports (see rubric and lesson plans below), STEM career research and space race research culminated with rocket building and launches (see lesson plans and pictures), 9th grade lessons of how to use Destiny, Gale Research Database, and Learning Ally (see student progress example), and many more. Classes are welcome to showcase work from their classes (Health Academy Research Boards), and much more. We are the Learning Hub of the School.
Lesson plans from CommonSense.org. ELL classes learned how to use iMovie for book reports to scaffold their learning.

Students used this graphic organizer to share the results of their research. Here's the link to the entire lesson.
All of 9th grade and ELL classes were taught how to use Learning Ally. The ELL classes have had the most success. This is a wonderful tool to help with language acquisition because they can see the text while hearing it, can highlight, take notes, adjust speed, and adjust text size.
