I love providing PD! Whether in person, via Zoom/Teams, locally, regionally, or nationally, sharing and collaborating with fellow educators is one of my favorite parts of being an Instructional Technology/Media Specialist.
This summer I was a part of the FLDOE FINDS Committee. I was able to present the new standards alignment and resources to all Volusia County Media Specialists and to provide resources to PRHS teachers. (See picture and transcript below).
In our county, the person responsible for professional development within the school is the DLTL (Digital Learning Teacher Leader). Another teacher on campus has been assigned that role for the past 3 years. I have lobbied to share that role. Great news! Beginning next school year, I will share that role with the other teacher. This will allow me to provide more guidance, support, and instruction in incorporating digital learning tools in all classrooms through in-person and online lessons/tutorials.
I have offered as many workshops as possible for teachers when asked (I was not comfortable actively seeking these opportunities because it was not my role within the school). Lessons on using Learning Ally, Follett Destiny, Gale Database, Peterson's Test Prep, research strategies, FINDS, and Britannica School have all been offered this year. I am eager to expand Professional Development opportunities on campus next year as the half-time DLTL.
This video is of a 9th-grade teacher explaining some of the programs and resources which I trained her and other Reading/ELA to use this year.
