The PR-LEAPS Project envisions the following goals:
(G1) Positively impact secondary level English and history teachers from schools in the Humacao area, both public and private, to participate in the PR-LEAPS Project.
(G2) Facilitate the professional development of 20 teachers from the public and private school system in the Humacao area to maximize the use of the Library of Congress’s online primary sources to develop ESL competencies and researching skills of students at the secondary level.
(G3) Facilitate participant’s strategic planning in using Library of Congress’s primary sources to create educational materials that build reading, writing, speaking, listening and researching skills for ESL learners.
(G4) Positively impact students from the public and private school sectors of the Humacao area in their academic achievement by using the Library of Congress’s primary sources to develop English competencies and research skills.
(G5) Disseminate and distribute educational materials developed through the PR-LEAPS Project to promote teaching with primary sources from the Library of Congress. In order to meet these goal, Faculty of the English Department, the Distance Education Office (EaD) Staff, and PRDE public and private schools in Humacao, will participate actively in the four (4) different phases of the PR- LEAPS Project.
