This is my Gantt chart for B1 it shows the order that I have done things and is a schedule for when things need to be done for example by the end of week 2 I was supposed to have finished making a schedule setting up my blog and submitting my URL which as can be seen I have done because they are highlighted in green. Going into to week 3,4 the yellow sections highlight things i am in the process of working on for example my introduction to deliverable 1 and researching job roles.
By halfway through the fourth week I had completed Deliverable 1 and set up a linked in I haven't completed deliverable 2 but I have started work on all aspects by complete sketches in marketing and researching into university and potential job roles.
Starting Deliverable 1 I will research types of media and what types of higher education, apprenticeships and connects can be made in that industry. One type of media I am interested in is photography. This research should give me a better idea of what I'm going to do in the future and my career aspirations. I like photography as it shows how beautiful every day things can look and also can create amazing images. Another type of media that interests me is film this is closely linked to photography. The purpose of my research is to understand trends and opportunity's in photography and maybe film and animation. Also it will help me understand what audiences prefer and what type of people these jobs are looking for. Research may also help me gain insight into the particular field I have chosen and also what is expected of me as well as learning about connections that could be made in industry when it comes to picking a university or apprenticeship. I am prepared to learn new skills through education and work experience such as a apprenticeship. Though I am not certain if I would like to attend a university. Research may also help me gain insight into photography techniques and things going on in the industry. I am doing this research to further my understanding of my potential career paths and knowledge of the industry.
For my career research I have chosen to research jobs and apprenticeships in photography. One apprenticeship in photography is the content creator apprenticeship. In this apprenticeship typical tasks would include research target audience, developing an idea according to the brief, supporting the production of a piece of content and keeping track of audience engagement. After completing apprenticeships I may move onto include level 4 media production coordinator, level 4 marketing executive, level 5 journalist. Apprenticeship duration is approximately 15 months starting salary can be up to 20k. I personally think I would not be interested in this apprenticeship as its not really what I want to do. I think I might get an apprenticeship when I'm done my second year of college as at the moment I would have to stop doing my college course to do an apprenticeship. However in this course there are many aspects other than photography for example: Film, Animation, Marketing and Journalism. So I could strive for other jobs in these sectors. For example: marketing, journalism, film and animation. If I were to strive for a career in marketing or journalism there are plenty of university courses available for that goal one example is the BA(Hons) at Teesside university which is a journalism course For part time you are looking at six years on the course and for full time you are looking a three years in tis course you research and interview create campaigns working in their multimedia newsroom working with tv shows and radios. Jobs I could get in photography include becoming a camera trainee which is someone who prepares the kit at the beginning of a job and may be involved with camera and lens test. They might mark actors positions during rehearsals and keep records or camera logs and other paperwork ready for the edit. Monitoring can be a big part of the role: setting up the monitors, cables and wireless. If there isn't a dedicated monitor operator it becomes the role of the trainee. Experienced trainees may also be asked to take on the responsibility of using the clapperboard, changing camera battery and helping the focus puller (first AC). If I was promoted I could become a director of photography they read the screenplay and work closely with the director. They research lighting framing etc to create scenes. My current skills with camera are not to developed I know how to take pictures and videos but I have not retained the information of switching focus mode aperture etc. I have basic camera operating skills. I also have basic video editing skills. I will need to improve all of my skills if I am looking to have a successful job.
