Physical Description: Elves are generally taller than humans, with heights ranging from 5'2" to 6'6". Their slender and graceful bodies give the illusion of greater height, emphasizing their delicacy. Elves have big, expressive eyes in splendid colors, often described as star-like. Their high cheekbones and pointed ears are distinguishing features. Elves typically have golden-colored hair, which adds to their ethereal appearance.
Social Structure: Elves tend to live in close-knit communities within the heart of lush forests. These communities are often hidden and protected by natural magic or enchantments. Their society is traditionally organized around a council of elders, and they have a deep respect for tradition and the gods and goddesses of nature. These deities play a significant role in their daily lives, and elves often see themselves as guardians of the forest and the creatures dwelling within it.
Interpersonal Aspects: Elves are known for their intelligence, elegance, and a sense of serenity that comes from their long lives and deep connection to nature. They have a strong sense of empathy and compassion, especially towards the creatures and elements of the forest. They are skilled in both the art of diplomacy and the use of nature-based magic, which they use for protection and healing.
Elves place a high value on creativity and the arts, excelling in music, dance, and other creative pursuits. They often have a strong affinity for archery and other forms of ranged combat, which they have honed over their many years.
View Towards Other Races: Elves tend to have a complex relationship with other races, especially those with shorter lifespans. They see the shorter-lived races, such as humans, dwarves, and others, as transient and impulsive. Elves often view them with a mix of curiosity, empathy, and a degree of condescension. They may find it challenging to form deep and lasting bonds with these races due to the vast difference in their lifespans.
Elves particularly have a poor relationship with Orcs, Gnolls, and Goblin races. Their deep connection to nature and the creatures of the forest leads to an inherent mistrust of these races, which are often seen as destructive forces that threaten the harmony of the natural world. When encountering these races, elves may react with caution or hostility, resulting in a -2 reaction modifier.
Overall, elves are a race deeply rooted in nature and tradition, with a unique perspective on the world and their place in it. Their long lives and inherent magical abilities make them formidable protectors of the natural world, but their relationships with other races can be marked by both curiosity and a sense of aloofness.
Elves are literate and receive talent in character generation. In addition, they are skilled in the use of the long bow or long sword (gaining a+1 to hit with the weapon chosen). Elves are quite magical by nature and receive a +1 to Spellcraft skill checks, and +1 to any Racial Histories that they may possess. In addition, their close association with the fay, which are often found in the forests they inhabit, they gain a +2 to resist magical spells/rituals directed at them.
Elves are fertile with humans, Drow, and Half-Elves; they cannot procreate with Gnomes, Dwarves, Halflings, or Wingfolk. In extremely rare cases, they are able to produce children with Half-Orcs or Half-Ogres. With the use of magic, they have been known to procreate with various fairy types, but these instances are both few and shrouded in folklore.
