Races in PSG - Depending on the genre, desires of the GM and players, a variety of races can exist in a campaign. Most campaign settings have stock humans, with possibly variants such as elves, dwarves, and hobbits in a fantasy setting. Racial advantages/disadvantages can be found in the Point System Fantasy – Fantasy Races document.
Uncommon race choices should be discussed during character creation as these races are often difficult to integrate into the standard fantasy society. Many will also have varied racial reaction modifiers, often negative, with respect to the Standard Races.
Playing a Rare race character ALWAYS requires GM approval and should be part of the pre-game discussion with other players. Rare races are very difficult to play due to specialized abilities, racial hatred, or distrust. Further, it is very likely that other members of the race are rare or only found in secluded locations making the advancement of some skills/abilities challenging.
Races in Gray exist within the Eye of Evermore (game world) and are not common to other game settings. They should NOT be used as player characters unless the GM is familiar with the racial aspects and is very experienced. These races have been added here as a reference only.
