EMPIRE CITY GAZETTE
History: The Empire City Gazette is a storied institution, its pages a chronicle of the city’s heartbeat.
The Gazette was founded in the early 20th century, a time when newspapers were the lifeblood of information. It began as a modest publication, its early editions filled with local news, investigative reports, and the occasional sensational story that captured the imagination of its readers.
As Empire City grew, so did the Gazette. It became known for its fearless journalism, holding the powerful to account and giving voice to the voiceless. The paper’s golden age saw reporters who became legends in their own right, breaking stories that would shape the course of the city’s history.
With the advent of new technologies, the Gazette adapted, embracing the digital age without losing the soul of its print heritage. It expanded its reach, delivering news through various platforms while maintaining the journalistic integrity that had been its hallmark for decades.
One of their lead reporters, Linda Lake, started a relationship with Captain Amazing, which she used to gain inside information and exclusive stories that made her career skyrocket. Their relationship came to an end after Captain Amazing was beaten publicly by D-List supervillain, the Clog.
Years later it was discovered that someone at the Empire City Gazette was masterminding all of their recent troubles. Night Scorpion uses his fortune as Billionaire Bill Kane to buy the paper. Captain Amazing and Scuba Boy go undercover as a reporter and photographer. The true threat to our heroes is revealed to be none other than Linda Lake, who manipulated their ruin in order to cash in on their stories. She was arrested and disgraced as a journalist. Liking the job, Captain Amazing, in his civilian identity of Parker Clarkson, decides to stay on.
Today, the Empire City Gazette stands as a beacon of truth in an era of uncertainty. It continues to serve the citizens of Empire City, guided by the principles of accuracy, fairness, and a relentless pursuit of the story. The Gazette remains a testament to the enduring power of the written word and the vital role of the press in a democratic society.
